ELSE in Südafrika

Diese Woche dürfen Martin Kühn (Centre for Business and Technology in Africa) und ich Workshops an zwei südafrikanischen Hochschulen zur Einführung eines E-Learning-Kurses für Lehrende geben, die sich im Bereich E-Learning weiterbilden möchten.

Entwickelt wurde der Kurs von der ELSE für das Projekt PEESA (Programme on Energy Efficiency in Southern Africa), basierend auf der deutsch-dänischen Zusammenarbeit Teaching for Tomorrow (#teach4tom).

Teaching for Tomorrow – Onlinekurs für Lehrende

Teach4Tom – Teaching for Tomorrow geht in eine neue Runde:

Teach4Tom ist ein Onlinekurs in Onlinelehre für Lehrende an deutschen und dänischen Hochschulen (s. Beschreibung unten).

Für Lehrende der beteiligten Hochschulen ist das Angebot kostenlos – aber nicht umsonst. Denn Sie erwarten spannende Monate mit intensiver Beschäftigung mit dem Thema Onlinelehre in vielen Facetten.

Target group: This course is open to lecturers from all the Danish and German partner institutions in Videnregion/Wissenregion Syddanmark Schleswig-Holstein (University of Southern Denmark, University College Syddanmark, University College Lillebælt, Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Fachochschule Kiel, Fachhochschule Flensburg and Universität Flensburg).The course is particularly aimed at lecturers who have an interest in online teaching and learning and lecturers who already undertake online teaching and learning activities or expect to do so in the future.
Aim: The purpose of the course is to give lecturers the competences necessary to design and deliver online courses. Furthermore, the course aims to provide lecturers with an opportunity to network across the partner institutions and find collaboration partners with a view to designing and delivering joint online courses to students.
Content: 1. The virtual learning environment and e-learning tools
Introduction to the virtual learning environment and e-learning tools that will be used in the course2. Introduction to online learning
Introduction to online learning, an overview of online learning models and a perspective on criteria for quality in online learning.

3. Design of flipped, blended and distance learning
Creating course designs, producing course materials such as videos and learning objects, creating learning activities and using OER (open educational resources).

4. Delivery of online courses/The online lecturer
Communication, interaction, motivation and netiquette. The role of the online lecturer.

5. Web 2.0 and social media
Introduction to web 2.0 and social media. Using web 2.0 and social media in teaching – the potentials and challenges.

6. E-assessment
Introduction to a variety of e-assessment methods, potentials and challenges. Designing and carrying out e-assessment that matches the learning objectives of a given course.

Further Info: There is a maximum limit of 70 participants (10 from each partner institution).
The course will only be held if at least 20 participants enrol.
5 ECTS
Laptop, good internet connection, a webcam and a headset are needed to participate in the course.

Date(s): The course starts on 14th September 2015 and ends June 2016.
On Friday 25th September a face-2-face kick-off event will be held  from 10:00-16:00.
Place: The course is delivered mainly online via both synchronous and asynchronous activities.The location of the face-2-face event on 25th September will be announced shortly.
